Calcium Lignosulfonate (CF-2)
Calcium lignosulfonate, as a first generation concrete admixture, is derived from wood pulp and is an anionic surfactant. It exhibits both retarding and water-reducing effects. This yellow-brown powder, known as CL-SLS, can be used in combination with early strength agents, retarders, antifreeze additives, and pumping agents. When mixed with naphthalene superplasticizer, it forms a liquid admixture without any precipitation.
Usage of Calcium Lignosulfonate (CF-2)
Water reducer: Improve concrete's impermeability, frost resistance, and reduce bleeding. In addition to sugar, wood calcium contains retarding group hydroxyl (—OH) and ether bond (—O—) in its molecule, which can inhibit initial hydration, so it has a retarding effect. The retardation effect of wood calcium changes significantly with the decrease of temperature.
Refractory: When making refractory bricks and tiles, wood calcium is used as a dispersant and adhesive, which can significantly improve the operating performance, and has good effects such as water reduction, enhancement, and prevention of cracks.
Ceramics: Calcium lignosulfonate is used in ceramic products, which can reduce the carbon content and increase the green strength, reduce the amount of plastic clay, have good mud fluidity, increase the yield by 70-90%, and reduce the sintering speed from 70 minutes to 40 minutes.
